The start of the MotoGP season has been positive for Aprilia and this weekend in Austin proves to be once again very competitive. Yesterday, Maverick Viñales won the Sprint race in Austin, also setting a new lap record that put him on pole position.
According to #12, there have been several improvements on the bike compared to the 2023 season that, combined, have allowed for considerable progress for the current season:
– I clearly said several times last year: “Guys, this is not in my hands.” So, basically we found out that the clutch is working a bit better, it’s obvious that there are some improvements on the rear device for the start. These little pieces are making a huge step.
The possibilities in terms of results are now different for the better, and Viñales admitted that this has an impact on his mentality: ‘It’s not the same when you start the race and you don’t know what’s going to happen as when you’re convinced that you can reach the first corner in first place. That’s a totally different mentality and that’s how I feel at the moment‘.
