Aleix Espargaró had a somewhat turbulent race yesterday in which he was hit twice, he said, and both times the ones who hit him were not sanctioned for it, which somewhat surprised the rider, as he “asked” for the action itself to be penalized, but at the same time made a point of saying that it is pointless to express his point of view to the authorities because they will not do anything.
Yesterday after the race, the Spanish rider said, remember: ‘The feeling is that they attribute a penalty if we crash, but we have to judge and penalize the action, not the final result, the outcome’.
Asked if he will speak to Race Direction, #41 was clear: ‘No, no, I mean, nothing will change, so no. I’m relaxed, I don’t care. What is surprising is that they didn’t act. They say: “Yes, we like you to come and explain…”. We try but nothing changes, so… they do their job, I do mine and we move on’.
This is not the first time Espargaró has expressed such feelings towards Race Direction for the way they decide (or not) to apply sanctions to the riders.
