Pedro Acosta made his MotoGP debut at the Valencia tests in November. Now there are new images of the pilot’s first experience aboard the KTM RC16, as well as his reactions in the GASGAS Tech3 garage.
In a video shared by MotoGP.com, it is possible to see the rookie of 2024 reacting to his debut, saying: ‘Wow! It was difficult to see the instrument panel! I can’t say anything bad about the bike. I activated the riding height device and it was like this’ [makes a hand gesture, pointing upwards]! And I said to myself: I don’t think this is the right one’ [laughs with the team]‘.
Acosta then gives his opinion on the position on the bike… as he feels confused with all the new things for him: ‘The position on the bike is good, everything is fine. It’s more a matter of understanding when to touch the buttons, where the damn buttons are! Sometimes, I’m going straight and I have to look at the handlebars two or three times’.
Then, talking about performance, here are his first words and what surprised him the most: ‘To be honest, the fact that you don’t rest on the straight… I mean, you do this’ [gesturing with his hands]. ‘Until we reach fifth gear, we’re still playing with the bike. I expected the bike to be much faster, but… it’s fast as hell! Everyone talks about power, power… but in the end, you feel the acceleration and not the top speed’.
