Brad Binder was another “victim” of the Sprint race at the Catalunya GP. The South African rider suffered a crash while leading the race and was out of the race.
In the debrief, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider talked about the events during the Sprint race at the Montmelo circuit.
– Today the qualifying was very good. Super happy to be in fourth place, it’s always good to start at the front. Unfortunately today in the Sprint I hit the limit in the first gear change and couldn’t shift to second, but despite that it was a good start and I had a good pace. The bike is working very well here and unfortunately that’s how my race went, it’s better to crash in first than last week in 15th. I was trying to ride more simply and I shouldn’t have done that, I should have ridden as I always do, with my style.
Asked about the reason why KTM is ahead of Ducati at this circuit, Brad replied: ‘I think there are many circuits where we have advantages, but this track is very good for us. From the first session all the KTMs were very fast and it didn’t matter the different styles of the riders, the bike works, but let’s see how it goes tomorrow. I’ll try to be calmer tomorrow, we’ll see.’
