The Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix witnessed the first battle for victory of the season between Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) and Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati). It was the champion of the last two years who ultimately came out on top.
Asked in a press conference to caption a photo of the race alongside the Italian with the words “love,” “rivalry,” or “respect, but with rivalry,” the eight-time world champion replied:
– Respect, more rivalry. As I told him in Portimão, it’s a pleasure to fight against the world champion and the reference of the Ducati group. In this race, once again, I was at his level and I was fighting with him, and I had enough speed to overtake him.
Márquez admitted that he is enjoying learning from Bagnaia, hoping to be able to be closer to his rival in the future: ‘For me, it’s already a pleasure to learn from him. He still has some stronger points than me, but let’s see if in the future I can be a bit better and be closer to him‘.
