The MotoGP rider market is heating up and shrouded in uncertainty, with several seats yet to be defined. At least one could be at Pramac Racing, as Jorge Martín’s departure to a factory team – possibly Ducati – seems almost certain.
One of the many riders without a contract for 2025 is Miguel Oliveira, currently riding for Trackhouse Racing. He pilots a current version Aprilia RS-GP, which although one of the most competitive bikes today, still doesn’t match up to the Desmosedici GP.
According to MotoSprint, there are rumors of contacts between the Portuguese rider and the Italian team – with a possible contribution from his sponsor Red Bull for the move. It’s worth noting that the energy drink brand sponsors Martín.
For Oliveira, the prospect of being on a Ducati would be interesting: it’s currently the most competitive bike and he’s currently facing some difficulties with the Aprilia. But to what extent would he be an interesting choice for Pramac?
In the case of Martín’s almost certain departure, there are other options within the Ducati sphere, such as Enea Bastianini if he leaves the factory team or the VR46 duo – Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marco Bezzecchi, who are doing a good job. And let’s not forget that Bezzecchi finished third in the World Championship last year.
On the other hand, it is expected that Fermín Aldeguer will move up to MotoGP with Pramac, so for Oliveira or another rider to enter, the departure of Franco Morbidelli could also be necessary. And, after a tough start due to the injury that prevented him from doing the pre-season, #21 is showing a good adaptation and is getting closer and closer to the fight at the top.
