Iñigo Iglesias Bravo made his debut by winning in the Supersport 300 World Championship, by imposing himself in the second race of Barcelona. It was a historic race, where Kove became the first Chinese manufacturer to step onto the championship podium.
The pole position was held by Julio García González (Kove Racing Team), who ended up being one of the protagonists in the fight for top positions throughout an unpredictable and emotional race. There were 20 riders in the leading group at one point, and in the end the top 12 were separated by less than a second.
On the final lap, the main duel was between Iglesias and González, with the Fusport-RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki rider emerging as the winner by just 0.064s. González had to settle for second place, which is still historic: it gave Kove the first podium for a Chinese manufacturer in the WSSP300.
In third place was Bruno Ieraci (Team ProDina Kawasaki), who fought for the podium until the end. He beat Daniel Mogeda (Team#109 Retro Traffic Kawasaki) by just 27 thousandths of a second. The top five was closed by Petr Svoboda (Fusport-RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki). Despite finishing only sixth, the winner of Saturday’s race, Aldi Satya Mahendra (Team BrCorse/Yamaha), leads after the opening round. He has one more point than Bravo.
