Marc Márquez is usually synonymous with aggression and pushing the limits of what is (im)possible on a motorcycle, but for now that has not been the style adopted by the Spanish rider in his debut with the Ducati Desmosedici. The new Gresini Racing rider is still in an adaptation phase and has only had one motorcycle available at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, but he assured that his riding style is still to be defined.
At the team presentation, the former world champion will have a new phase of his career in 2024, outside of Honda, and still needs time to “find himself” with the Italian motorcycle:
– In Valencia we were riding in a very smooth way but we still don’t know, I still don’t know, if that will be my riding style with Ducati. It was the first test, I ran with a configuration that I didn’t know, I told the team to use the configuration of the others and not to touch anything, just for me to adapt. It was the basis for giving me more confidence with the front end. I was riding smoothly because I didn’t feel comfortable riding aggressively, to find the limit of the motorcycle… We’ll see.
Márquez also emphasized the desire to test the motorcycle in other locations, to better understand its true level: ‘I’m curious to try the motorcycle in circuits where I usually had more difficulties, like Malaysia, Qatar, where I had a lot of difficulties every year. It will be interesting to understand what my level will be there’.
