Marc Márquez made another unlikely recovery in the MotoGP Catalan Grand Prix Sprint race. With last year’s Ducati and a damaged wing early on, he managed to climb from 14th on the grid to second place in the end.
After yesterday’s results and performances, the Gresini Spaniard was asked if he considers himself the best Ducati rider at the moment given the apparent limitations. And he replied:
‘- In the Sprint race, yes. But [Jorge] Martín and [Francesco] Bagnaia are still faster than me, and they are more consistent. It will be interesting to analyze for Gigi [Dall’Igna] and his team, because without a wing I was riding well and felt good with the bike. It is true that the balance of the bike was different, but one of my strengths is adapting to situations.’
According to Márquez, there is room for improvement especially in fast laps: ‘I still feel that I have room to improve, especially in fast laps. But in race pace, we are very close to Martín and Bagnaia.’
