During the past week, Aleix Espargaró spoke about the greatness of Honda in motorsports, even considering it the biggest in the category. Despite having a strong contract with Aprilia and being considered ‘The Captain’ of the Noale manufacturer, he himself learned that ‘never say never’ when it comes to breaking contracts in the class… reminiscent of Marc Márquez.
At the beginning of this week, the pilot said quoted in DAZN: ‘Honda is always a good option. I always make the same analogy, Honda for me is like Barcelona, the best [soccer] team in the world and the biggest’, which naturally earned him a little more attention from the journalists present at Phillip Island.
However, the Aprilia Racing pilot stated: ‘I don’t have much to say. In English, people asked me about contracts, they found it unbelievable that we were talking about pilots with contracts. And the only thing I said was that many people criticized Marc for breaking a contract and I think that is romantic. In relationships, sometimes everything can be ended. As long as it is by mutual agreement and there is understanding from both parties, it is life, it is respectable. What does not seem correct to me is that it is done unilaterally, as sometimes happens with Moto2 and Moto3 teams.’
Then the Spanish rider talked about something he learned over the years and how he himself sees things differently nowadays:
– Another thing I learned in this paddock is that I was a guy with very fixed ideas who said “never, never.” And I learned that “never say never.” This sport is madness and we have seen very, very strange things. You always have to listen to everything, evaluate everything and put everything on the table. And, above all, you have to feel the sensations we have. But now is not the time to talk about that.
