The Thai MotoGP Grand Prix that ended yesterday was one of those where Michelin brought a different type of tire, and as in other recent occasions when it was used, Monster Energy Yamaha performed well – particularly with Fabio Quartararo, who finished fifth in Buriram.
The 2021 champion admitted that the different tire is a help: ‘We could see that a different tire helps us because others can’t generate as much power on the tire. And if you see, it’s clearly an advantage: India, Thailand, Mandalika. We had difficulties when we returned to Japan, we had difficulties in Phillip Island. So, we have to understand very well’.
Be that as it may, Quartararo stressed that this final part of 2023 gives him hope for 2024: ‘I am very happy because in recent years, in general, at the end of the season we have always been much worse and now we are achieving our best results of the season. So, hopefully Yamaha can take a big step forward for next year’.
