The opening day of the season, both in FP1 and FP2, was not particularly competitive for the two-time WSBK world champion. The Aruba.it Racing – Ducati rider said he had some problems in FP2, related to electronics, and even with some changes in the configuration, it did not improve. As for the few laps completed in FP1, he felt good and consistent.
Here is the rider’s perspective on his first day of work for the championship:
– It was a very special Friday for everyone, as it started raining just before both practice sessions, so we didn’t do many laps. Then, in FP2, we encountered problems with the electronic parts and also tried a different configuration to try to improve my sensations, but it didn’t work. I stopped many times and didn’t do many laps. However, in the few laps I did with the morning configuration, I was satisfied because I was good and consistent. My physical condition is good and I feel more fluid on the bike. My sensations are starting to appear and that is the most important thing today. As for the position, everyone is riding very fast and the times are very close, so I’m not worried about that. I can say it was a short but positive Friday.
Remember, FP3 starts at 23:20 in mainland Portugal time.
