At the entrance of the Catalunya MotoGP, Aprilia and KTM seemed to be superior to Ducati, on a Barcelona circuit where low grip is a crucial element to take into account. However, it was the Borgo Panigale manufacturer that prevailed, with three Desmosedici GP on the podium – one of them belonging to Jorge Martín, in second place.
The Pramac rider commented in a press conference: ‘I changed the bike a lot during the weekend because with my normal bike I had a lot of difficulties with the front end here, and it didn’t turn. I feel that with less grip maybe KTM and Aprilia are closer to us or maybe equal in terms of bike performance‘.
But above all, Martín considers that the difference in Barcelona was due to the way of riding, so this was an aspect he focused on a lot during the weekend:
– I tried to work a lot on my riding style from Saturday to Sunday, trying to understand how to be faster, how to lift the bike and when. It is true that the Ducati is working perfectly and when we have more grip it will be even better. But I think here it was more the riding style or the rider making the difference than the bike.
