Things don’t seem to be going very well for Honda in the Superbike World Championship, or at least that’s how it seems according to Iker Lecuona who, in his third season in the category, doesn’t feel that there has been a real improvement in the performance of his bike.
In an analysis of the second day of testing at the Algarve Circuit in Portimão, Portugal, the rider said: ‘The second day was tough and difficult. First of all, because on my first test lap I crashed at Turn 7. It’s a fast turn. We changed the bike on the first day and I completely forgot. I arrived, completely lost the front end, and then we lost the whole morning repairing the bike. Even with the crash, we continued to have difficulties.’
For the Spanish rider, the problems are many, as he explained: ‘We haven’t found a solution, we haven’t found anything that works well on the bike. We don’t know why or what we need to change. That’s the reality. It’s the last day of testing and going to Australia with this feeling is not the best.’
In addition, according to Lecuona, it seems that the path to growth simply doesn’t exist:
– It’s my third year in the Superbike World Championship and, for now, I don’t feel a great improvement. We have improved a few times but, in the end, what is clear is that we are not ready to even fight among the top ten. Let’s see in Australia, in the two days of testing, if we can find something. It seems like it’s going to be a difficult year.
