The season in which he arrives at MotoGP is only Pedro Acosta’s fourth since he made his debut in the World Championships in 2021. Despite his wide success and the comparisons he is subjected to with riders like Marc Márquez, the young Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider keeps his feet on the ground.
The Spaniard refuses to compare himself to other riders, but contrasts himself with his own past. In the El Hormiguero program, Acosta emphasized that he feels he has evolved since his debut in Moto3 three years ago:
– I think I am the new Pedro Acosta. After all, I see what I have changed since I entered the World Championship and… I arrived at 16 years old and now I am almost 20 years old, so I have changed in some way. The first year was very good, the third year was very good, but the second was very complicated. It was difficult at first and I think now I am different compared to the rider I was when I started.
Acosta then admitted that without this evolution, his career would have taken a different path: ‘If I hadn’t learned and matured, they would have already taken me out of the World Championship because the pace at which I was destroying bikes was not normal‘.
In MotoGP, the rider from Murcia has already achieved his first podium, in only the second main race he competed in. Once again, he is demonstrating ease of adaptation to a new category, bike, and team, as well as quickly learning what he needs to be competitive against top caliber rivals.
