Fabio di Giannantonio could do little on track to change his future, as he still doesn’t have a contract in MotoGP for 2024. This Sunday, he showed the best argument of all so far with his first victory at the Qatar GP.
The current Gresini rider was asked if he now arrives at the Valencia GP more mentally free, considering he did his best to show he deserves a place. In response, di Giannantonio denied:
– For the rest of my life, if I look back at the MotoGP race in Qatar in 2023, I will always be the winner; I will always be proud of my achievement. But I am also not completely free, because this is my dream. It is the dream of our lives to compete at this level, in this championship, with these bikes, and to live with this job. So, I am not completely free, because I would love to continue my journey. I will be free when and if I can sign a contract for next year.
For now, the Italian wants to enjoy the victory and maximize the opportunity that is the Valencia GP: ‘At this moment I just want to be proud of my moment, enjoy the moment and try to do my best also in Valencia which is another opportunity. It could be my last, or maybe not. So, I just want to do my best‘.
