Aleix Espargaró finished the Jerez GP without scoring points. After suffering a fall, the Spanish rider took Johann Zarco with him, ending both of their races.
The two riders exchanged heated words after the incident, which has not gone unnoticed in the MotoGP Paddock.
In the debrief, the Aprilia Racing rider talked about the race events and the incident with Zarco.
– ‘I had problems with the start and lost many positions, Morbidelli touched me several times as well as Zarco. While trying to recover, I completely lost the front and fell, my bike hit Zarco, so it’s a shame. The weekend wasn’t going so bad, it wasn’t the best but it wasn’t the worst either, but from yesterday it was terrible, today was also very bad. It’s difficult to recover positions if you have a bad start, as we saw with Acosta or Maverick.’
Asked about the tests tomorrow, Aleix replied: ‘Something big will come tomorrow, but I’m 99% sure we won’t be able to use it during the season, it’s very difficult for us to start badly because it’s very difficult to recover.’
Aleix also spoke about the conversation he had with Johann Zarco after the incident, when they were fighting for 14th place.
– ‘He was very angry with the race direction, not because of the accident, but for other reasons. I was very upset, because I told Zarco that we were fighting for the 14th position and he kept touching me. He replied that it’s his way of driving, but it’s not mine. He was very angry with the race direction and lost control of his emotions a bit.’
