Jack Miller was far from the desired performance in the MotoGP Qatar GP. The Red Bull KTM rider left Losail without points and in the main race he finished 21st – last among those who crossed the finish line.
The Australian talked about a very problematic race where he couldn’t be at the necessary pace: ‘It wasn’t the way I wanted to start, but it is what it is. It can only get better from here. I had a good start again and then I was blocked in the penultimate corner by DiGia [Fabio Di Giannantonio]. And then those riders were going a bit too deep into turn one. I tried to keep a tighter line and the front end washed out. It was part of it, but then I picked the bike up and the bike was straight, and I was attacking. But honestly, I was just missing something in the race. The level of grip or something… I was unable to even come close to the pace we need. So, we have to think, we will try to understand what went wrong and we will try to improve for Portimão. It’s not the way we wanted to start, but it’s the way it is‘.
Despite solving the problems that affected him in the Sprint race, Miller admitted that there were other shortcomings and it is necessary to analyze the situation well in order to try to correct them: ‘I solved the problems from Saturday, with the wheelie and everything, but we have others. Whether it’s just for Sunday or not, we definitely have something there. There’s not much to say. I tried to attack as hard as possible every lap until the end, but I was too slow. Every time I tried to attack, I lost the front, every time I tried to attack too hard on the exit, I lost the rear. I couldn’t maintain grip throughout the entire race. So, as I said, we will try to analyze the data, understand what went wrong, and try to correct it‘.
