During the Indian Grand Prix, at the Buddh circuit, one of the moments that kept spectators very attentive to the unfolding of the action was when Jorge Martín’s racing suit unexpectedly opened during the race. This incident reminded of a similar situation that Fabio Quartararo faced in Barcelona and which resulted in a penalty for him, something that Martín admitted to fear.

In the heat of the moment, Pramac’s pilot, Martin, recalled Quartararo’s incident and did everything in his power to avoid a similar fate. ‘It was a critical moment. Maybe I didn’t tighten the suit correctly. With the temperature that was felt, there could be critical moments. But when I saw it opening, I thought where I could close it to prevent it from opening completely. I thought that between turns 11 and 12, I could lose less time than in the middle of the straight. It took me some time, but I managed to close it and there were no consequences. I thought that something similar to what happened to Quartararo in Montmeló could happen to me, but I managed to overcome everything that happened’ shared the Pramac pilot with DAZN.

Coincidentally, after the race, Martín talked about the situation with the suit already with Quartararo and Marco Bezzecchi on the podium. ‘It opened completely’, he said, to the surprise of both, especially because Alpinestars had reinforced the suit with a double Velcro closure after the “Quartararo case.”
