Marc Márquez went through a very complicated period in his MotoGP career starting from the 2020 Spanish GP. A serious injury to his right arm was just the beginning of a myriad of problems.
Later, the Spanish rider suffered another spectacular fall that left him with a problem that had put his career at risk in the past – diplopia. After some signs of recovery, the setbacks did not stop.
Already recovered from the physical problems, Márquez then encountered another obstacle to return to the top – Honda’s poor competitiveness, with no end in sight.
In a conversation with the Audi Spain YouTube channel, the eight-time world champion did not hide that retirement was an option: ‘I thought about it, but you can’t make any decision in the heat of the moment‘.
One thing is certain, despite the physical problems, Márquez always maintained the craving for the adrenaline of the races, as he recounted: ‘Every time I came out of an injury, I wanted to get on the bike, I couldn’t imagine a life without bikes, without adrenaline‘.
