Jorge Martín was the happiest man of the day after training in 4th position in the Sprint race and seeing his rival Francesco Bagnaia suffer a crash while leading the race. Martín thus gains points on the Ducati factory rider and looks with good expectations towards tomorrow’s race.
In the debrief, the Prima Pramac Racing rider talked about the sensations he had during the Sprint race.
“- Very difficult race, the feeling was very bad today. Despite that, I managed to finish in fourth place, maybe it wouldn’t have been without the crashes, but those who fell suffered the crashes because they were pushing too hard. I think we have a good chance to fight for the podium and the victory tomorrow. I had difficulties when I was behind the riders, we have to understand why for tomorrow. Today I started very badly, but tomorrow will be better for sure. I prefer to finish in fourth place than to crash, my feeling on the bike today was very bad so I hope to feel better tomorrow.”
Asked about the qualifying, Martín replied: ‘I was very optimistic, I was already a tenth faster in turn 1 and in the second I was hungrier, faster and more sliding, which was a bad combination actually, I think if I could have made it through turn 2 the pole would have been mine, but nowadays in MotoGP we have to try and take risks, I couldn’t do it today, but we have to try.”
