Joe Roberts is one of the highlights of the Moto2 class this year for many reasons. The American rider is leading the intermediate class and has become the first American rider to lead a world championship since Nicky Hayden in the premier class.
With the entry of Trackhouse Racing team into MotoGP, the presence of an American rider in the premier class could become a reality. With Joe Roberts’ recent results in Moto2, the Aprilia Racing satellite team has its “eyes” on the American rider, and bringing these two pieces together would certainly be the ideal move for the USA.
John Hopkins, mentor of Joe Roberts, spoke about the American rider’s strong performance in recent races and his confidence in the Moto2 rider is growing, according to GPOne.
– I really believe that Joe can win the Moto2 World Championship. He has talent, there’s no doubt about it, and now he has the experience, he just needs to gain confidence. If he believes in himself enough, I truly believe he can win the title this year.
He also added: ‘I think he can finish in the top three in the championship, which could secure him a place in MotoGP. I think the sport needs another American and he is the only one who can do it at least in the next two years.’
