Francesco Bagnaia will not have an easy time in the fight for a third consecutive MotoGP title. After five rounds, the Ducati rider is already 38 points behind the leader, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), who has been leading the championship since the Portuguese GP and has rarely faltered.
As if that weren’t enough, the Italian still has to worry about Marc Márquez. The eight-time world champion has already found a way to be competitive with the Gresini Ducati and this Sunday he overtook Bagnaia in a direct duel for second place in Le Mans… being only two points behind in the championship.
Gigi Dall’Igna, general manager of Ducati Corse, acknowledged in statements to the official MotoGP website that Bagnaia’s task is not easy and the rider is not pleased with the result in France. However, the manager liked the performance he saw:
– Anyway, he did a fantastic job in Jerez, he also did a fantastic job in this round. Of course, he is not happy with the result because he would like to win this race and I think he could. But fighting with two other riders is not easy and in the end he is third. But anyway, I am really happy with his race.
