After a complicated phase, including the worst result of the year in Barcelona, Enea Bastianini reacted in the best way at the Italian MotoGP: he returned to the podium with second place, only behind his Ducati teammate, Francesco Bagnaia.
The Italian started by mentioning in the interview to the official broadcast: ‘The feeling is incredible, because after a difficult period something was wrong, but we solved the problem. And today we attacked very strongly. I can be very happy‘.
Bastianini admitted that there was a moment when he was calmer, reacting to Marc Márquez’s (Gresini/Ducati) overtake: ‘I fell asleep a bit during the middle of the race, but when Marc overtook me, I understood that I had to attack, I had to recover‘.
Regarding the move that led him to surpass Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) right at the end, #23 commented: ‘During the last lap I saw Jorge very close to me, and I thought: “Well, it’s possible to reach second place”. And I overtook him in the last corner. I am grateful, I am very happy, and I want to dedicate this race to my dog – she died a week ago and was my baby‘.
