Francesco Bagnaia finished the Sprint race without scoring points. The Italian rider started with a disastrous start and ended up making a mistake at turn nine and went wide. Afterwards, Pecco entered the pits and retired from the Sprint race.
In the debrief, the Ducati Lenovo Team rider talked about the events of the Sprint race and why he withdrew.
– I don’t know, as soon as I started on the warm-up lap I felt something strange and then I was losing the front in turn six before going wide in turn 7 almost in acceleration, so there’s something wrong, but these things can happen. We have to change the bike for tomorrow’s race. It’s not easy to understand when these things happen, my team is already taking care of it, so we’ll see. We have an idea of what it could be, but we’re not sure, I withdrew because there was something wrong and it could be dangerous.
Asked about the expectations for the race tomorrow, Pecco replied: ‘The expectation is to fight for the top positions, we will take the positive points from today. We have to understand what happened. The championship is still long, it’s true that we have to be consistent, but we didn’t expect this kind of reaction in the Sprint, but we’ll see.’
