Álvaro Bautista had a great victory in the second WSBK race at Magny-Cours, however, not everything went smoothly for the Spanish rider during the weekend, as he was involved in a controversy during the Superpole race with… his teammate, Michael Rinaldi.
Rinaldi, who was on the receiving end of the situation, ended up being hit by Bautista which resulted in the end of his race after a touch from his teammate, but the current world champion, in his analysis of his Sunday, did not forget the situation and regretted what happened, ensuring that what occurred was impossible to avoid:
– It was a very emotional weekend. After the issue I had in race 1, unfortunately, I was involved in contact with Michael during the Superpole. I am very sorry that he fell, but you have to believe me: I could not do anything to avoid the contact.
About the race that secured his victory, Bautista admitted that he had very good sensations: ‘Race 2 was very good for me, as the feeling was extraordinary from the first to the last lap’.
