Fabio Di Giannantonio is competing in MotoGP this year with a bike identical to Marc Márquez’s – the Ducati Desmosedici GP23. Therefore, he has the opportunity to closely study the Spanish rider from Gresini, who continues to be one of the references in the field despite the decline in results in recent years.
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team rider revealed to MotoSprint a similarity he finds in the way he rides with the eight-time world champion: ‘Something very particular that I see in the data is that Marc and I use the throttle in a very similar way. It is something that sometimes surprises me, being close to the riding style of an eight-time world champion, is not bad at all. Marc enters the corner very aggressively. He rides very well and is very strong‘.
Despite maintaining respect for Márquez and considering him a rival, Di Giannantonio believes that he is not a rider out of reach and on a different level as he thought before:
– I feel that I am at a very good level and although maybe in my MotoGP debut I saw him a bit further away, now I don’t see him as an extraterrestrial anymore. It is obvious that I have great respect for him because he is a champion and has his magic when he rides, but I do not see him as unreachable. I see him as a rival and even when I study him, I do not see major differences.
