‘I needed this position to stay alive in the season’ – David Muñoz

David Muñoz achieved his first Moto3 victory this morning, right at home and after an absolutely fantastic and very exciting race, where he beat his closest rival by 0.050s.

– It’s a very good day for us and I’m very happy because I needed this position to stay alive in the season and focused on myself. I tried to overtake [Máximo] Quiles on the last lap, I had tried on the lap before, and on the last lap I saw the opportunity to win and I overtook him. It was very close but I won.

With this result, Muñoz is tenth in the championship with 98 points, 51 behind Jose Antonio Rueda.
