Toprak Razgatlioglu recovered to second place in the first race of the World Superbike Championship at Assen. The 2021 champion was about three seconds behind the winner, Nicholas Spinelli (Barni Spark Racing Team/Ducati), when the race was interrupted seven laps from the end without being resumed.
The Turkish rider from ROKiT BMW said in the official broadcast that with just one more lap, the result could have been different in his favor, in a race he enjoyed, especially in the early stages:
– First of all, congratulations to Barni Racing, but I needed just one more lap. Anyway, the race has finished like this. But I was enjoying a lot in the race, especially the first laps because the first sector was full wet and we were sliding, everybody was trying to do some lines.
For the Sunday’s races, Razgatlioglu wants to go even further, as he emphasized: ‘I did the second position here, but I need a victory here with BMW also. But we will see tomorrow. Everyone is working hard for the best position, and we’ll see tomorrow’.
This Sunday, the #54 will start from third place in the Superpole race, and there, his starting position for the second main race will be determined.
