Marco Bezzecchi achieved his first podium of the MotoGP season in the Spanish GP by finishing third. The year didn’t start easy for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 rider, who had difficulties adapting to the Ducati Desmosedici GP23.
Despite having the opportunity to move to Prima Pramac with a current bike, last year’s third-place finisher chose to stay with the team that introduced him to the premier class. And that decision makes team owner Valentino Rossi feel a lot of responsibility for Bezzecchi, as he admitted to Sky Italia:
– We are very happy for Bez. I feel that I have a lot of responsibility because he chose to stay with us and compete with an old bike, with which we had some problems. Marco has great potential and he has to continue to extract those tenths from the bike as he did in Jerez. It was beautiful, an important podium first of all for him, but also for the team.
With three consecutive top-ten results, Bezzecchi shows signs of progress, which was confirmed with the podium and performance in Jerez – where he was consistently fighting for top positions.
The next round is the French GP in Le Mans. Currently, the Italian is in ninth place with 36 points – two more than his teammate, Fabio Di Giannantonio.
