Aleix Espargaró achieved a historic victory yesterday in the MotoGP Catalunya Grand Prix, completing a one-two for Aprilia. Competing at home, he surpassed his teammate Maverick Viñales with a pass in the final laps.
The #41 described a tough round, where he was under pressure knowing he had a great chance for a strong result: ‘I would love to stop time and enjoy for a few weeks. It was a fantastic weekend, because from the beginning I felt good on the bike. It’s obvious that I had a lot of pressure because I knew I had a good opportunity. But you have to deal with it. So, it wasn’t an easy weekend‘.
Regarding the race, Espargaró revealed that he had to take risks and push to the limit due to the conditions: ‘After the dramatic start – fortunately everyone is okay – it was a tough race. Maverick really pushed me to my limit, because due to the wind I wasn’t able to ride in my usual style like on Saturday, so I had to take a lot of risks to win‘.
