Miguel Oliveira finished the first day of the MotoGP Japan Grand Prix with the 11th fastest time in the second practice session – which counts towards direct qualification for Q2. Therefore, he will have to go through Q1 tomorrow in Motegi, having missed his target by just 56 thousandths of a second – after leading the table at one point.
The rider from CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team told the press that he was disappointed with the result: ‘It was going well. In the last run on the track, I couldn’t put together my best sectors. I also encountered two yellow flags. I’m not happy. I finished in 11th place, so, off the mark‘.
In Oliveira’s view, there is a lot of room for improvement for this Saturday, particularly in the conditions for a quick lap: ‘It could be a bit faster. I don’t know if it was enough or not, but definitely faster. So, for tomorrow it is obvious that we will try to improve – especially the speed in one lap. Because when I used the soft tire in the middle of the session it was only in a kind of race setup and I was very close to my fastest lap time. So, there is a lot of room for improvements. We have to put everything together for tomorrow’.
