Brad Binder continued his preparation for the new MotoGP season on the second day of testing in Sepang this Wednesday. Third in the time table, the Red Bull KTM rider recovered from a less good Tuesday, continuing to work on his RC16.
O #33 confirmed that it was a positive day, but didn’t have time for all the work: ‘Today was a much better day than yesterday. This morning I immediately felt back to my normal self. I felt very comfortable. This morning we made a little attack on the time, it was very good. The bike worked well, we made a good time. And then, from there, we really focused on afternoon components playing with many aerodynamic settings. Unfortunately, we ran out of time, so we never mounted the tires with the latest things we found. So, that’s what we need to do tomorrow’.
In terms of riding, the RC16 doesn’t have significant differences, but Binder explained that the bike needs to be readjusted when there are innovations: ‘The way you ride the bike doesn’t change as much. It’s more that when you add these components, it’s very critical, you have to rebalance the bike a bit and you need to play with the settings. It’s not just put it on and it’s done. You need to try and set it up to see if it’s a benefit or not’.
Asked if the bike has more aerodynamic load with the new solutions, the South African replied: ‘It depends on which area of the bike. But I’m not sure’.
