Maverick Viñales obtained third place in the qualifying session of the Italian MotoGP Grand Prix. Since he finished just behind Francesco Bagnaia, he will start from second in the main race at Mugello, thanks to the three-position penalty imposed on the Ducati rival.
The Aprilia rider commented in the official broadcast interview: ‘I had a small highside, so I lost a lot. However, it was good to attack to the maximum. It’s not an easy track for us, it’s true that on the main straight we are losing a bit. But it’s a pleasure to set these lap times at Mugello, to ride fast with confidence. A fantastic atmosphere here, I love Italian tracks, so I will try to have a good race‘.
After a complicated Catalan GP, Viñales has no doubts that he is back to good performances: ‘I feel good, we have regained the potential. The lap times were very fast; I don’t think we expected to be that fast. However, I was feeling good behind Pecco and then I did it alone again‘.
Finally, the Spanish rider commented: ‘We will try to be in a good position in the first corner and then we will try to fight‘.
