Miguel Oliveira was 19th on the second day of MotoGP testing in Sepang. The Trackhouse Racing rider worked on the aerodynamics and geometry of the Aprilia RS-GP 2024, continuing to get to know the bike. He also tried to do a fast lap near the end of the session, but without success.
The Portuguese summarized Wednesday’s work: ‘Once again, some things in the aerodynamics – mainly in the front area of the bike. We also made some geometry changes to get a better feeling. The feeling was improving a bit, step by step. I tried to make a little attack on the stopwatch with new tires at the end of the day, but it didn’t work – I was slower.’
After two days of testing, Oliveira revealed that he is facing some difficulties in an area where he was strong in 2023: ‘I finish the day with mixed feelings because I felt better with the bike. I’m still not able to be fast in the fast corners, where you have to carry speed through the corner. This was something I had last year that was very, very good, and right now I’m struggling there.’
As for the failed attempt to attack the stopwatch, #88 also explained: ‘I felt that the tire was not at its best, to be honest. But we need to see what actually happened. I don’t want to blame just the tires. We need to analyze. After many laps, especially in the afternoon riding all afternoon with the medium rear and the hard front, and then I went straight to the medium front and soft rear. So, it was a bit of a strange feeling.’
