Considered by many as a title contender in 2024, Marc Márquez started the MotoGP season with a fourth place in the Qatar GP. The rider is with Gresini and riding a Ducati, marking the first time in his career he does not have a Honda.
In an interview with MCN, Enea Bastianini, one of Ducati’s factory riders, spoke about his expectations regarding the Spaniard: ‘I see him well. He attacks when it’s the right moment, but keeping a certain margin, he is trying to understand the bike. He is a very tough rival, undoubtedly he will be in the fight. I don’t know if for the Championship, but for the top three positions, yes’.
Questioned about whether he expects himself, Francesco Bagnaia, and Jorge Martín to be the main protagonists of 2024, Bastianini replied: ‘Assessing by the tests, yes, but races are a different matter. We cannot underestimate KTM and Aprilia, who are our direct competitors today. I keep my feet on the ground. And anyway, if you look at the winter tests and the first race, I would also add [Fabio] Di Giannantonio, Márquez, [Brad] Binder, and Aprilia…’.
