Brad Binder finished the Mugello GP in 10th position. The South African rider started the race well with a good start, but in a longer phase of the race he ended up losing some positions. Binder is currently in 7th place in the MotoGP world championship.
In the debrief, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider talked about his race at the Italian circuit.
– In today’s race, I was expecting a great start like yesterday, but that wasn’t the case. I had to accelerate twice coming out of the starting line, because I had to go over the grass a bit at the beginning, so I had to accelerate, try to gain space and had to accelerate again. The start didn’t go as planned, but anyway, I didn’t have the pace today. No matter how hard I tried, I was a little slower. I had the “carrots” in front of me throughout the race, but honestly, I could see them pulling away and no matter how much I tried to catch up, I wasn’t able to. It was a very, very tough day. It’s been a long time since I felt like I didn’t have the necessary speed, but oh well, that’s how it is and I’m very happy that we have the test tomorrow, because it gives us the opportunity to try to find the extra pace that we are missing.
He also added about the areas of the circuit where he had more difficulties and where his bike was losing compared to his opponents: ‘I don’t know what’s going on. It’s a bit what’s been happening in some points of the circuit throughout the weekend. I don’t know if we can call it vibration or what. It’s a bit strange. It seems to start a bit at the rear, but then the whole bike starts to alternate between the two tires. But for me it’s just a little bit in turn 4 and 6. Besides that, I never had any problems and a bit in turn 12. But yeah, nothing special. Apparently, I was 18 seconds faster than last year. Unfortunately, Pecco was 25 seconds faster than last year. That’s my problem.’
