Marc Márquez did not have an easy Friday at Phillip Island. The Repsol Honda rider suffered two crashes, one in each practice session, and ended up with the 16th fastest time in the second session – which relegates him to the first phase of qualifying.
The six-time premier class champion stated: ‘I didn’t have confidence and then that early crash, especially in FP1, didn’t help. And then I was calm. It’s true that I had a funny moment in the same corner, which we can say was half a crash. But apart from that, it was a good day‘.
According to Márquez, the lack of confidence was a limitation this Friday, particularly in the fast corners: ‘Basically it’s being less confident. I don’t have much confidence, and then there are the fast corners. In the fastest corner, I’m not attacking, I’m just crossing. I only attack in the slow corners and that’s where I crash. But I know it’s safe, so I don’t feel the fast corners‘.
