Takaaki Nakagami is another Honda rider disappointed with the performance of his bike. The Japanese rider has only scored two points in the championship so far and has retired in the last two GPs.
In the debrief, the Japanese rider talked about the bad feelings he has on the bike during the race and the disappointment it has been for the Japanese manufacturer in the last races.
– ‘It’s a tragic moment for us. I am very disappointed, it’s very difficult. We are losing two seconds per lap, despite trying to push the bike we continue to lose. The feeling on the bike is strange in the corners, in the transitions. Before my crash I already had some warnings from the front, but oh well. I prefer to fall than to stay on the bike doing nothing, finishing the race with nothing, it doesn’t make sense. It’s a very difficult moment, I didn’t expect us to be this bad. No one can do anything to improve. We are slower than last year, which is something I can’t understand.’
Asked if this was the toughest weekend ever since he joined Honda, Taka replied: ‘Yes, it’s been three crazy days, even in the first session we are struggling, we are all lost and everyone can see that from the outside. The problem is that I don’t know what the problem is, because I can’t point to something and say what it is. It’s such a difficult feeling and in every lap we are two seconds slower. This is work for the engineers to improve, not for us. I hope they can find something.’
