After missing the pre-season due to a complicated injury, Franco Morbidelli finally made his debut for Pramac Racing in the MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix – also having his first contact with the new Ducati Desmosedici GP24.
He did not score in any race, finishing 18th in the main race. Nevertheless, the Italian expressed his satisfaction with this opening round, stating to the press:
– I am very tired, but very grateful that everything went smoothly this weekend and everything went well. I feel good with the bike and started riding a bike at some point. Of course, I was improving, getting better and catching up with the riders in front, but that’s not important: what matters is that everything is fine with me, everything is fine with my head, and now it’s time to keep working and keep chasing the riders in front.
Questioned about whether anything went wrong in Losail, Morbidelli confirmed and said he wants to keep following the same path: ‘Exactly. That’s how it should continue until we start achieving the results the bike wants to achieve’.
