‘Technology has played an incredible role in the sport and it is important that European manufacturers take advantage of it. The Japanese have fallen behind and are now paying for it, and I believe it will take them some time to recover the title. In that sense, their culture does not help,’ he said in an interview with a French media outlet, quoted by Motosan.
Biaggi reveals that Aprilia may have a say in the near future regarding the title fight: ‘I have been an ambassador for Aprilia for a few years, but I don’t have any sporting role. I have known the people for a long time, I talk to them about the problems, obviously, but in an informal way. We have always been among the top, so I am not surprised that now we are capable of winning the MotoGP World Championship,’ he said.
In the words of the Italian, there is a lack of fighting spirit among the riders. ‘I don’t think guys like Stoner, Rossi or even Lorenzo would have reacted that way,’ he recalled, referring to the incident between Aleix and Viñales in Montmeló.
‘We are talking about champions, riders who have won for years. People were delighted with how they rode, how they fought and how they behaved,’ he concluded.
