Raul Fernández finished the Americas GP in 10th place. The Spanish rider started from 13th place on the grid and managed to move up three positions in the standings to earn a total of 6 points for the championship.
In the debrief, the Trackhouse Racing driver talked about the race events and the feelings on his bike.
– ‘I am happy to finish my 100th GP in the top 10. After the first three laps, it was difficult to manage the race, but at least now I know that when you are not in a good position in the first laps, it is difficult to manage the tires until the end of the race. It was a positive race in the top 10, overall. The pace was good and I think we need to work more on qualifying and understand what to do to be further ahead. Now, in MotoGP, if you are not in the top 5, it is very difficult to manage the race.’
The Spanish rider also talked about his race pace and the potential that Aprilia has to go even further during this MotoGP season.
– ‘I am happy with a race in the Top 10, but I want more. Today I saw that the pace was there, but we have to understand what we need to do at the beginning of the race, we have to understand better how we have to attack and in qualifying.’
