Considered the rookie of the year in 2023 in Moto2, Sergio García will abandon the number 11 and start using the number 3.
‘I decided to change the number after the fall in Valencia, when I was in the ambulance. It was a change I needed to make. I achieved great things in the World Championship, but I ended up not being able to enjoy it on the bike’, declared the young rider, who will be with MT MSi next season after joining Pons.
‘I am going to a project that believes strongly in me. Despite having our ups and downs, the balance is positive. What was most difficult for me were the physical changes, I had problems during the first races in my right forearm and had to undergo surgery. Knowing that you can fight, but your physical condition does not allow it, I think it is very tough to face’, admitted García, who hopes to adapt well to the new machine.
‘It’s a risky move, because we will only have four bikes, but things can go well and I believe it was the right time to do it. Now, I will have to train hard until February to be able to arrive at the tests in good condition and to give my best from the beginning of the championship’, assured the pilot, quoted by the newspaper Marca.
