Albert Arenas will start his third consecutive season in Moto2 at the helm of Gresini. The rider wishes to respond on the track to the confidence that the Italian team has placed in him.
World champion in Moto3 in 2020, the last seasons have been complicated for Arenas, in addition to injuries, this will be the third time he changes teams. After joining the intermediate category with Aspar, he moved to Red Bull KTM Ajo in 2023 and now will be with Gresini.
‘This year I will already know a little bit about what it will be like to meet new faces, in a new team. The truth is that I feel at home from the beginning, I feel like a Gresini rider, I was with the team all week in Italy and the energy is really good, I feel good, I am also surrounded by great people,’ the Catalan began to reveal in an interview he gave to Motosan.
‘Injuries are part of our sport and sometimes things don’t flow, you want to do more, but you can’t always. When you’re enjoying yourself, when you’re feeling good, things happen more easily. Last year, precisely at my best moment, I had just finished on the podium in Montmeló and in Misano I think I was leading or in the top-3 in that session. It was a serious injury that kept me out of the following races. However, I managed to find my rhythm again, I was on the front row in Thailand, I fought for podium places, but let’s say I didn’t really find myself, but well, I learned a lot of things and I’m really grateful for that,’ he recalled.
For the upcoming season starting in a few weeks, Arenas reveals that he has already started doing his homework.
‘We are a little ahead with our duties, I have been adapting to the team since November of last year, all of this is part of the process. I am here to work to the maximum, to try to become a better pilot than I was last year, that is my main goal. I believe it is important to do the work we are doing, in adapting to the team, not leaving anything undone and being super consistent in training,’
