Honda is in a delicate situation in MotoGP, with no end in sight to the crisis of results and lack of performance. In fact, the situation seems to have worsened at the beginning of this season, despite the many changes made to the bike and the way of working.
On Monday there was an official test day in Jerez which, as expected, was of great importance for the manufacturer. The four riders – Joan Mir, Luca Marini (Repsol Honda), Johann Zarco and Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda) – tested different solutions, according to team director Alberto Puig.
The Spaniard, who hopes that this work will result in ‘important conclusions’, also admitted to the championship’s website that the effect will not be immediate: ‘Of course, several things you find are not automatic – probably you can’t use them in the next GP. But of course you can start preparing the pieces’.
It is undeniable that Honda is far from the top positions and the successes it aims to achieve. Puig emphasized that the commitment, however, does not diminish, with a dedicated effort to improve:
– ‘It’s a really important day and we have to see and continue to do what we are doing – that is, we are working hard, Honda is not sleeping. We are trying to find the solution, because clearly we are not where we want to be.’
