After several years at Aprilia, Romano Albesiano moved to Honda this year in MotoGP. He holds the same position, as sporting director, but the context is substantially different.

In an interview with SPEEDWEEK.com, the Italian commented: ‘Honda is completely different – a different organization and philosophy, also mentally. It’s interesting to make comparisons, and see how to extract the best from both cultures’.

According to Albesiano, there is regular and constant contact with Japan, whether through daily video conferences or the fact that Japanese people work at the European base: ‘It’s not that I’m there, but I’m managing. I have total freedom in terms of decisions and changes’.

Regarding the European base in Barcelona, the engineer explained: ‘There, we mainly focus on performance analysis and vehicle dynamics. In the future, this might be expanded; we still need to decide’.
