The E-Xplorer World Cup is an exclusive category for electric motocross bikes and will be the chosen stage for the Honda CR ELECTRIC PROTO, a bike that made its track debut in round 8 of the Japanese Motocross Championship. Riding these bikes will be Francesca Nocera, multiple Italian Enduro and Motocross champion who will also compete for the RedMoto team in the world championship, and Spanish rider Tosha Schareina. Schareina has a lot of experience in Motocross and Enduro and stood out in the recent Dakar Rally, so he will also give his all in this innovative project. Nocera and Schareina will compete alongside nine other teams, all of them with one female and one male rider, and there will be two categories of bikes, one for motocross prototypes and another based on lighter production models. The project is led by Rúben Faria, a former motocross, enduro, and rally rider who has been the team manager for Honda HRC in the Dakar in recent years. According to Faria, “I am very excited to be part of another HRC project, being in charge of a full season of competition with electric bikes with the Honda CR ELECTRIC PROTO. We saw when the bike made its debut that it was very fast with Trey Canard at the controls, competing against experienced 450 cc bikes. It was an encouraging debut. The competition will be intense, and this will be the best stage to develop sustainable competition with two-wheeled vehicles. And with Francesca and Tosha, we have two good riders.”
Faria, with whom we were recently at the presentation of the new Honda Africa Twin in the Algarve, also mentioned that “obviously it is a very different project from Rally-Raid, but my career started in Motocross, followed by Enduro and finally Rallies, so it is an area that I like and where I feel comfortable. Tosha and Francesca have a lot of experience in Motocross and Enduro, and I think they have the talent for this innovative class for electric bikes, the E-Xplorer.”
From our part, we will be attentive to this championship and wish Rúben Faria all the luck in another ambitious project!
