The last few years have been marked by a sharp decline in competitiveness for Honda in MotoGP. The low point was 2023, when they only managed one victory – from a rider on the satellite team LCR Honda. Because of these results, they will have the maximum available concessions in 2024 and aim to make the best use of them.
According to the website Motorsport.com, the Japanese manufacturer has scheduled a full agenda of private tests, where they can have up to 22 days throughout the season. However, it is possible that they may lose some of these days during the year, as the concessions will be reviewed during the summer break based on the results.
The regulations created for 2024 allow for the possibility of the regular riders participating in private tests, meaning Joan Mir and Luca Marini will be able to ride just like the test rider Stefan Bradl. The German, who is also expected to compete in Grand Prix races as a wildcard for a maximum of five, may not be the only test rider – Honda is looking for a second one to share the workload.
