The full fairing CBR650F model, launched in 2014 alongside the naked CB650F, offered a very generous dose of performance from its four-cylinder engine that placed it at the sportier end of the sports touring motorcycle segment. Five years later, the CBR650F became the CBR650R; the change from “F” to “R” indicates an even more powerful sporting capacity, designed to be explored, used and enjoyed on the road.
The CBR650R evolves its racing-inspired styling with a comprehensive end-to-end update The all-new 5-inch TFT display with Honda RoadSynte connectivity has a simplified 4-way rocker switch control – a new design that’s very easy to use. The unchanged performance engine with 70 kW (over 95 hp) of power and 63 N-m of torque has an A2 license compatibility option. The CBR650R – along with the CB650R naked – will be the first Honda motorcycle to be offered with optional Honda E-Clutch; this new technology gives the rider an automatic clutch option, simply by using the gear pedal. The bike, with a Showa SFF-BP USD fork, includes two radial four-piston front calipers and tires measuring 120/70-ZR17 at the front and 180/55-ZR17 at the rear.
Fuel consumption is 4.90 l/100 km – 20.4 km/l – (in WMTC mode), for a range of over 300 km per 15.4 liter tank. The high environmental efficiency EURO5 homologation now has an ECU and catalytic converter overhaul, as well as the addition of an OBD2-2 sensor.
