The CBR650F full fairing model, launched in 2014 along with the naked CB650F, offered a very generous dose of performance from its four-cylinder engine that placed it at the sportiest end of the sport touring motorcycle segment. Five years later, the CBR650F became the CBR650R; the transition from “F” to “R” indicates an even more powerful sporty capability, designed to be explored, used, and enjoyed on the road.
The CBR650R evolves its competition-inspired style with a comprehensive update from end to end. The brand new 5-inch TFT screen with Honda RoadSynte connectivity has a simplified 4-way toggle switch control – a new design that is very easy to use. The unchanged performance engine, with 70 kW (over 95 hp) of power and 63 N·m of torque, has an A2 license compatibility option. The CBR650R – along with the naked CB650R – will be the first Honda motorcycle to be offered with optional Honda E-Clutch; this new technology gives the rider an option for automatic clutch operation, simply by using the gear shift pedal. The chassis, with Showa SFF-BP USD forks, includes two radial four-piston front calipers and tires in the sizes 120/70-ZR17 at the front and 180/55-ZR17 at the rear.
Fuel consumption is 4.90 l/100 km – 20.4 km/l – (in WMTC mode), for a range of over 300 km per 15.4-liter tank. The high environmental efficiency EURO5 certification now has a revision at the ECU and catalyst level, as well as the addition of an OBD2-2 sensor.
